Mukdahan Province:
Mukdahan Province is located on the bank of the Mae Khong River opposite Suwannakhet in
Laos, 642 kilometers from Bangkok. It is a quiet province bordering the
mighty Mekong River. Home to an
interesting mixture of cultures from various tribes since ancient times, this
rural area of the northeast is a land
of fantastic natural rock formations, beautiful sceneries and has an
interesting mix of cultures and traditions. Mukdahan is well known for
producing good quality Mudmee silk and pillows and sweet tamarind fruit. The town also hosts the Indochine Market,
a bustling weekend market selling a whole range of items from Thailand, Laos
and Vietnam.
Wat Si Mongkhon Tai located on the bank of the Mekong River is the temple where Mukdahan's ancient and
most revered image of Buddha, the Phra Chao Ong Luang, is enshrined. Amphur

Ban Song Khon Church, one of the largest and most beautiful
Catholic churches in Asia. Luang Pho
Yai a Buddha image sitting in the gesture of giving the First Sermon, is placed
on a rock plateau within the precincts of Wat Phuttho Thammatharo.
