The reason behind this is that Thais believe that if a girl lets a man touch her, hold her hand, or put his arm around her, then she is lose, easy, or a prostitute. The first thing you are going to need to meet friends of the opposite sex it time and a lot of it. The best place to meet someone is where he or she works, rather than a bar. There are a lot of nice, well-educated Thai men and women working in restaurants, malls, as tour guides, and in hotels. By going into where they work, you can break the ice because they have something to sell and you are wanting to buy it. Always be polite and dress sharp. This means no t-shirt and shorts. Don’t ask personal questions at this stage, just make small talk. If they are interested in you, then they will ask plenty of questions.
