Nakhon Si Thammarat province is one of the southern provinces of Thailand located on the eastern shore of the Gulf of Thailand. Nakhon, as the province is popularly known, is 780 kilometers from Bangkok and boasts of beautiful verdant jungles, lush green vegetation, picturesque beaches and magnificent waterfalls.

In the heart of the city of Nakhon Si Thammarat you can visit the Wat Phra Mahathat. This was originally an old monastery which is believed to have been constructed during the Srivijaya Period. The building has a 77-meter pagoda which houses Buddha relics brought from Sri Lanka over 1,700 years ago.

Do not forget to visit the Old City Wall which is 460 meters wide and 2,230 meters long. The wall was constructed during the Phraya Si Thamma Sokarat period and was renovated at least two times during the Ayutthaya Period.
