          Located at a distance of 583 kilometers from Bangkok, Amnat Charoen Province is situated in the northeastern part of Thailand.          The temple of Phra Lao Thep Nimit is located some 40 kilometers from the town of Amnat Charoen on Highway 212 and 2134. The temple is constructed in Lanna style architecture and it houses a Buddha image which is in subduing Mara attitude and decorated with golden leaves. This Buddha image is considered to be the most beautiful in the entire northeastern part of Thailand. The Buddha image is designed in Latian and Lanna style dating back to 1720. It considered to be a blend of local art, which is visible from the shape of the face, and higher flame over the head, lap and feet. Phra Mongkhon Ming Muang

Amnat Charoen Travel Guide : Phra Mongkhon Ming Muang

        Buddha Utthayan is located in Khao Dan Phra Bat, which is 3 kilometers north of the town of Amnat Charoen. The park is also known as Phra Mongkhon Ming Muang and is extremely popular with people for the Buddha image housed in the park. The image is located in front of a temple and is in subduing Mara attitude. The image was designed in 1965 by Chitr Buabud.

        The Buddha image is 20 meters tall and is built in the Northern Indian style. The lap width of the image is 11 meters. The original Buddha image was covered with steel reinforced concrete and then decorated with golden mosaic. The original image was 8.4 meters wide at the base and had a length of 12.6 meters.
