      Phrathat Nong Sam Muen is considered to be a very beautiful temple with a perfect chedi. There are no records that reveal when the temple was constructed but architectural and fine arts evidences show that the temple was built with designs from the Lanna, Lan Chang and Ayutthaya periods. Many experts believe that the temple was constructed during the reign of King Chai Chetthathirat of Lan Chang in the 16th century.More....

      Chaiyaphum is also home to Wat Sila At Phu Phra. This temple is famous for its rock shelter where bas-relief images of Buddha are engraved. The bas-reliefs are now protected by a roof and you can admire a large Buddha image in sitting in meditation posture. The lap width of the image is 1.52 meters and the height is around 2.13 meters. The right palm is place on the lap, while the left palm of the image rests on the shank. More....

Prang Ku 

        Chaiyaphum Province is part of Isan plateau and it is located in the northeastern part of Thailand. Known for its many waterfalls in the rainy season and fields of Dok Krachia, also known as curcuma, Chaiyaphum has won the hearts of many visitors with its historical and natural sites.  

 

        One place that is worth visiting on your trip to Chaiyaphum province is Prang Ku. It is a stone sanctuary from the Khmer period and is located in the sub-district of Nai Mueang. Prang Ku displays an architectural plan of a nursing home and it is estimated that it was constructed in the 12th or 13th century.

        Prang Ku has prang in the very center with a vihara and a library in the front. The entire site is surrounded by a laterite wall. Outside the wall, at the northeastern corner, there is a pond. The main prang around 15 meters wide. It is square shaped and has 12 recessed corners. Right in front of the prang is the entrance, which is constructed like an antechamber. There are three other entrances, but they are false. Above one of the entrances in the north, the lintel displays a bas-relief image of Buddha in a posture of meditation. The image shows Lord Buddha sitting on the Kala holding garlands in both hands. The north false door has a niche where you can see a Buddha image in a meditation posture. This image is constructed in Dvaravati style architecture. The image is around 1.75 meters tall.
