The province is also home to Wat Sila At Phu Phra. This temple is famous for its rock shelter where bas-relief images of Buddha are engraved. The bas-reliefs are now protected by a roof and you can admire a large Buddha image in sitting in meditation posture. The lap width of the image is 1.52 meters and the height is around 2.13 meters. The right palm is place on the lap, while the left palm of the image rests on the shank. This is considered to be the opposite of the subduing Mara posture. This large Buddha image is called Phrachao Ong Tue. In addition, there is a 17-centimeter tall Buddha image made out of sandstone in a similar posture right in front of it. Nearby there are another 7 images located around a sandstone column. 5 of the images are in meditation posture while the remaining two are in the same posture as Phrachao Ong Tue. The images are built in the U Thong style which was prevalent during 13th to 14 century and the beginning of Ayutthaya era.
Twice a year for 3 days, ceremonies are held to pay respect to the images at Wat Sila At Phu Phra. These ceremonies are held on the 1st day of the waxing moon in the 3rd lunar month and on the 13th day of the waxing moon in the 5th lunar month.
