Doi Inthanon National Park

Highest mountain in Thailand is also a part of Doi Inthanon. There are many great beautiful scenery in this national park such as Mae Ya Waterfall.
Historically, Doi Inthanon was formerly known as, “Doi Angka” The name, Inthanon, was changed after the last ruler of Chiang Mai, Prince Intharawichayanon. Prince Intharawichayanon forsaw the importance of country’s forrest and supported people who were investigating his land. Nowadays, tourists can still see the stupa of Prince Intharawichayanon at the summit of Doi Ang Ka.
The forest in Doi Inthanon National park is very rich in biodiversity. DThere are Pine Forest, Moist Evergreen Forest, and Mixed Deciduous Forest, and much more. The national park is also the home of many beautifual flowers like vandal orchid, rhododendron, Sphagnum Moss, Osmanda fern, and many number of bird and species. Great biodiversity is possible, because of cool climate and broad altitudinal range.
The climate of Doi Inthanon is usually cold with high humidity throughout the year, because it is located at 2565 meters above the sea level. The weather in winter may be below 0. Even in the hot summer of Thailand, it is still freezing at the top of Doi Inthanon. If you are not used to the cold weather, it is advisable to bring thick and warm clothes before visiting the National Park.
