Kalasin has the highest concentration of dinosaur fossils in Thailand. It is also popular for the famous Phrae Wa cloth. This tiny province is spread over an area of 6,946 square kilometers and is divided into 18 districts administratively.
If you go to Kalasin Province, do not miss a visit to the district of Kuchi Narai. Here you will find Ban Khok Kong Phu-Thai Village. This village has its own culture and language. The Phu-Thai people belong to an Isan tribe and by going to the village, you will get an opportunity to stay there for a couple of nights with the villagers and experience a different kind of Thai lifestyle.
The villagers are excellent hosts and offer guests traditional Lao food with a choice of western ones too! You can then sit back and enjoy the traditional monkey dance where all the children of the village perform to Phu-Thai music. In addition, even the womenfolk of the village put up dance performances.
You can learn the method of weaving baskets and making other craft items. And if you get tired of it all, you can escape to a forest park, which is just a two-minute walk from the village center. Here you can relax watching the waterfalls and streams flowing through the park.
