Phu Kradung National Park

Named after the famous Phu Kradung Mountain that is present inside the park, Phu Kradung National Park is the second national park in Thailand after Khao Yai National Park and is spread over an area of 350 square kilometers.
Phu Kradung Mountain is a sandstone cliff containing a vast plateau on the top. The highest peak on this mountain is located at a height of 1,360 meters above the sea level. There are several historic trails available to the top of this mountain.
Climate in the park is cool and comfortable with temperatures going up to 35°C. Thousands of tourists and visitors come to this place every year in order to enjoy the pristine natural surroundings. The park offers numerous trekking trails that pass through gorgeous waterfalls, dense pine trees and oak forests. While walking through these trails, one can get a glimpse of the most exotic flora and fauna present in the park that includes animals like jackals, elephants, deer, gibbons, bears and tigers. Phu Kradung National Park mainly contains dry dipterocarp forests that are interspersed with mixed deciduous, hill evergreen forests and also vast stretches of green fields. Birds inside the park include black eagle, silver pheasant, red-wattled lapwing, Chinese francolin and minivets. Also present in this park is a rare and unique species of turtle called Tao Hang.
Phu Kradung National Park remains closed during from June right through September. This is because incessant rains during this season can cause flash floods resulting in deluge and landslides. Tents are available for rent inside the park for the purpose of camping on top of the Phu Kradung Mountain. Apart from this, there are also a number of restaurants, hotels and resorts present around the Phu Kradung National Park providing reasonable boarding and lodging facilities.
