| Mukdahan Province is located on the bank of the Mae Khong River opposite Suwannakhet in Laos, 642 kilometers from Bangkok. It is a quiet province bordering the mighty Mekong River. Phu Pha Turm National Park :
Mukdahan has many historical and natural sites. One such place that is quite popular with visitors is Phu Pha Turm National Park. The park is located in Muang and Dontan districts of Mukdahan. The park has a mix of deciduous forest on rocky field, rocky mounds covered with wild colorful flowers in winter and mixed forest in the valley. The most common trees found in the park are Malabar ironwood, Burmese ebony, Makhaa rosewood, Indian oak, wild champaka, Siamese sal and Moulmein ceder
The park has wonderful attractions for visitors. You can see a strange-shaped rock, historic cave, and spring and waterfall that flow right around the year. Hor Kaew Mukdahan :
Hor Kaew Mukdahan is popularly known as Mukdahan Towers among visitors. The tower was constructed in 1996 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of King Bhumibol's accession to the throne.
Hor Kaew Mukdahan stands over 65 meters and affords a full 360 degree view of Mukdahan, Mekong River and over parts of Laos. This observation tower has 7 floors and each floor has something different to offer the visitors.
The first floor is entirely for arts and culture. It showcases beautiful antique pieces of Thai arts and tools. You can also see a collection of bank notes which have been procured from most countries of the world.
The second floor is devoted to showing the history and culture of the eight ethnic tribes that live in Mukdahan. The tribes are Tai Kha, Tai Kha Soe, Tai Kha Lerng, Isan People, Tai Yor, Tai Saek, Tai Kula and Phu Tai. You can learn a lot of about these tribes by just visiting Hor Kaew Mukdahan. More...
