Apart from the historical significance, Phichit is also a well-known tourist destination known for its picturesque surroundings and various interesting tourist attractions. One such attraction is the Bung Si Fai, a large fresh-water lake located on the southern side of Phichit town.
Spread over an area of 4,800 acres, Bun Si Fai is a swamp that is being used by the Thai Fisheries Department as a facility for breeding fresh-water fish. The entire lake is surrounded by lotuses that have been grown by people.
Located on the banks of this lake are several delightful landscapes that have been remodeled into beautifully designed recreation parks that provide locals a place to relax and to have fun. The best time to visit Bun Si Fai Lake is either at the time of sunrise or during sunset when one can see the rays of the sun reflecting on the clear waters of the lake.
Present on the other side of the lake is a fresh-water aquarium where different species of native fish living in the lake are exhibited. Also present in this aquarium are different types of fishing gear that are used by the local fishermen to catch fish. The aquarium is open to visitors from 10.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.
Another interesting feature located around this lake is the Phichit Crocodile Auditorium that has been constructed in the shape of a large crocodile. Present inside the auditorium is an air-conditioned meeting room that can accommodate 30 persons. This auditorium is widely used for conducting important meetings and other functions.
