Namtok Pa-La-U Waterfall

The province of Prachuap Khiri Khan is better known for its amazing coastline which runs along the Gulf of Thailand. The province, no doubt has beautiful beaches but it has many other attractions, some historical and some natural, that should be explored.

In fact, very few visitors know that this is where Thailand is the thinnest, that is at one point just 11 kilometers separates Thailand from Myanmar and the Gulf of Thailand.

The name of the province means Land of Many Mountains. This name arises from the mountain range present close to Myanmar. The people of Prachuap Khiri Khan are basically farmers, fisher folk and cattle herders.

Namtok Pa-La-U Waterfall is a 15-tiered waterfall right in the middle of a lush green verdant forest. It is located in Hua Hin District and is around 60 kilometers west of Hua Hin town. The area where the waterfall is present comes under the supervision of Kaeng Krachan National Park authorities.

Namtok Pa-La-U Waterfall cascades right round the year. It is a place where colorful butterflies gather and the best time to see them is in the early hours of the morning, around 7.00 a.m., when the air is fresh and cool. This is the time also when you can see wild animals and rare birds.

You can even get the villagers from the village of Huai Sad Yai to lead you on the trail of wild elephants or just go on a nature walk from the waterfall. There is no doubt that the waterfall creates one of the most beautiful views that you will every see.
